Everybody! You can be any of the following: manufacturer, wholesaler, distributor, retailer or a hobbyist with only one tank at home.  For Wholesalers, our platform accommodates wholesale pricing, where you can indicate the minimum order level to qualify. 

All fish, invertebrates, plants, related food and equipment normally enjoyed in the recreational aquarium hobby however NO livestock is allowed to be sold which appears on the DAFF prohibited list.  If our moderators identify an item in your stock list from the prohibited list your seller account will be suspended immediately.

All products must be shipped from within South Africa, no exceptions.

All store approvals are entirely at My tanklife’s discretion.

On the home page click on the menu item sell and follow the prompts and information requests.  After submission your application will be reviewed and if all is in order you will receive an e-mail notification that your new store has been created as well as confirmation of your login details.  With your login details you will have access to your store’s dashboard to load your products, check on the status of your orders and watch your sales grow. This is entirely your own shop. My tanklife does not store, breed, grow or supply any products.  When someone buys something from you, you will get to package it up in your own branding and ship it using whichever shipping method you’ve chosen. You can also allow your customers to collect their orders from you directly.  Remember that your buyers will have the option to rate your business so it will be in your interest to deliver amazing quality and offer great service.

Yes, the customer will see that the product is sold by you on the product pages. We indicate the name of the store selling the products on all of our stock archives and detailed stock pages.

You can use any method that you prefer. Our system supports using all shipping methods, and also has integration with many of South Africa’s major couriers.  You can even offer free collection if that suits you best.

There is no charge to signing up and opening a store.  However when you start selling we charge a sales commission depending on which plan you have chosen (ranging between 5 and 15%).  We also charge a flat rate of R10 for each time we make a pay-out to you, to cover the costs charged by the payment gateway.

For example – if you are on the 10% sales commission option and you make a sale of R1 000 with a courier fee charge of R100:  Total sale value is R1100.  The payout to you will be R980 (R1 100 less 10% sales commission, less the R10 payout fee = R980).

We make vendor payments once a week into the bank account indicated in your profile.  Please ensure that the account details that are loaded during your seller application are correct (triple check them), as we cannot take any responsibility for incorrect details.  Your payment is the proceeds of your sales net of our fees.

This is to cover the charges levied by the payment gateway for each pay-out made.

Yes. Currently only stores in South Africa are supported.  However a seller does not need to be a South-African citizen.

The plan that you select when signing up determines how many products you can sell.  This ranges from 20 to an unlimited amount depending on your selection. 

For the more established stores this has become a normal part of online business.  If you have no existing experience we will offer you guidance on best practice.  

There are many benefits, and your My tanklife store can easily coexist with your online store. By selling on My tanklife you get access to potentially a new and extensive customer base without having to invest any significant time or resources.  We actively market our site targeting the right customers for the wonderful world of aqua-scapers, shrimp keepers, marine/freshwater fish and invertebrate enthusiasts. Some established stores only list their best sellers while others may want to test the market with new products or even feature their entire stock list, the choice is yours. If you are using the Woocomerce ecosystem we can automatically synchronise your stock units on hand listed on My tanklife with your existing store.  No need to manage stock levels in two places.  For further benefits check out the the vendor information page.

No, there is no obligation to stay on the market place and you can come and go as you please, pending any finalisation of outstanding orders, if applicable.
