Aquafin reef salt is different
When compared with other high-end brands:
- There is a distinct difference in the molecular mass – moisture content. The Aquafin formulation has not been super dried to yield faster mixing and more strength. In this process trace elements found bound in the crystal molecular structure are removed to the detriment of the needs of the corals and aquarium inhabitants.
- Aquafin salt is a natural organic reef salt that has elevated levels of beneficial elements including, calcium, Magnesium and Potassium.
Long Term use
- It is recommended that regular partial water changes be conducted when using this product.
- On a well stocked system at least 5% to 10% per week is recommended.
- This product is suitable for use with Carbon dosing additives.
Mixing instructions
- 44 gm Reef Salt to 1 litre RO water.
- Never make up or mix salt in the aquarium
- Always add the Salt mixture to Reverse osmosis water.
- Prepare the mixture in a separate container that is clean.
- Stir the water vigorously and then add the salt mixture. Continue to stir the mixture until all the salt is dissolved. There may be a foam concentrate of undissolved solved elements that will develop on the surface this can be skimmed off with a small container and disposed of.
- Add a pump or air stone to the container and circulate the salt water mixture for 12 hours before use.
- For ideal parameters mix enough salt to achieve a density of 1,025 SG or 35ppt at 25 degrees Celsius.
- It is recommended to allow the water to mix for at least 12 hours. This will allow the Ph to stabilise but if necessary it can be used within one hour of mixing

My Review of AQUA-FIN Reef Salt.
I built a 3 meter tank for my dad, being a newbie to marine I researched as much as I could and took all the advise experienced mariners gave me.
Spending all that money on all new equipment, I decided to play safe and use Seachem Reef Salt.
After running the tank for over six months with Seachem Reef Salt I eventually got convinced by Robin to buy a bucket of AQUA-FIN reef salt.
I must admit I was skeptical and tried reading the values off the bucket to try and compare to other brands so I could way out my options and price check.
So being scared and preparing for disaster I gave it a try.
I made 135L or R\O DI water in my drum, put my wave pump in to stir it and even used a heater to warm up the temp.
I then added a bag of AQUA FIN salt which was different, not like the rest which is dry salt, this was wet.
When I got back from work 6 hours later and had a look, I found it to be a rather cloudy solution and to make it worse there was brown foam on top.
At that time I felt like draining it out into the garden and asking Robin for my money back.
So I decided to give it a try and did my 10% water change on that Saturday night.
The next day I got up and slowly approached the tank,.
To my surprise I found the water extremely clear.
The soft correls and LPS had extended so huge I couldn’t believe it.
The mushrooms looked so puffed up as if they wanted to burst.
Mannnnn, this was a moment never seen before in this tank!
I’ve been using AQUA-FIN Premuim Reef salt ONLY for the past two years and seen success in my reef.
My lps has strived, grown and multiplied.
Softies that have split and colonized.
I haven’t lost a fish except for the clown that jumped out.
I bought a little inferno flame anemone about 3 months back, it’s now split and I have 2 huge monsters.
I now do my water changes every second week.
With this salt I do absolutely no dosing and run no reactors I have an old school sump and led lights.
I recommend Aqua Fin salt.
Whenever I look at my tank I feel there is a magical ingredient in aqua fin salt.
